The last Turd Ferguson Show? Contrary to popular belief, no! Anyways, this is the second Fun 100 CD release party.
STICKS was supposed to play at this show too, but due to Jonny Hughes having to work, You Say Party! We Say Die! started us off. Except for their first show, I have liked every set of theirs. Last night was no exception. They mixed it up with stuff from Danskwad, Hit the Floor, and unrecorded stuff. It was great fun, despite minor mixing problems. Also, prizes to Jason for playing so inventively while under the influence!
The intermediate step was the Doers. Their second show since the departure of Jerf, the Doers did fairly well. Their temp drummer doesn’t quite seem to “fit”. No one said she had too, it just seems weird after the theme of drunken mustachioed guys. Anyways, nothing went wrong but it just felt like something was missing from their set. However, afterwards I received a copy of their Plastic Bass EP. I’m loving it. Very raw sounding. In a good way.
Finally it was time for the band that everyone was their to see: FUN 100. They played a great set, intermittent with Ian MacKaye riffs (not his, but riffs from bands he was in). Honestly, just great. I would say that Adam really showed the skill of his screaming except that he was on the ground and I couldn’t see the mic so it’s entirely possible that Jason [Nicholas] had the mic. It’s also just as possible that he had it and I couldn’t see it though.
If you weren’t there, you missed out!
