James Kochalka

James Kochalka is a musician, a writer, and an artist. That is a rad combination, and it makes for a rad book. What makes the book great isn’t the three essays and five comics it contains, but the fact that it gets you thinking. The book jumps all over the place, discussing everything from the concept of craft, to parenting, to beauty, to the rhythm of the universe.

Some people may not like James’s art, but there is obviously beauty in simplicity. His focus is on the story and ideas, not details.

With over a hundred pages, it would seem a tad long for having no real story, but it’s a quick read. If you’re at all interested in reading this book, I recommend first looking up some of Kochalka’s other work to see if you like that. Then take it from there.
